Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Halal Helper LLC, doing business as Omerica Studios ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Clifton, New Jersey, handles information on this website, njplaybook.com (the "Services"). This policy does not cover other websites, including other Omerica Studios sites and the sites our listings link to.
1. Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your name, email address, and any message content when you contact us by email. Please do not email us Social Security numbers, bank or card details, passwords, or other sensitive information.
- Usage and device information. Standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, recorded by our host to keep the Services secure and working.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Services;
- To respond to your messages;
- To keep the Services secure and prevent abuse;
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. AI features
This site does not have an AI chat assistant, and nothing you do on it is sent to an AI service. If you email us, the founder's private work tools may use Google's Gemini API (paid tier) to help organize incoming email; the assistant in those tools is described on omericastudios.com/legal. Program summaries in the directory were drafted with AI assistance from each program's official page; see our AI Use Disclosure.
Past chat feature. Until October 23, 2026, this site had an AI chat helper called Ask Omie. When you sent Omie a message, that message and up to the last 10 messages of the conversation went from your browser to our server function on Netlify, and then to Google's Gemini API, which wrote the reply. We used Google's paid tier. Google's terms for paid use say Google does not use those messages to improve its products. Google keeps them for a limited time to detect misuse and for legal reasons. Ask Omie has been removed. If you used it and have a question, email us.
4. Analytics and third-party services
This site is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (hosting logs may record IP addresses for security and reliability). It loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from cdnjs (Cloudflare). Like any web request, those services receive your IP address and browser details when a page loads. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services on this site. No outside scripts run on our pages. When your browser loads the fonts or icons, it tells those services that the request came from njplaybook.com, but not the full address of the page you are reading. Google says it does not use Google Fonts data to build profiles of people or to target ads.
Our email is hosted by Google Workspace, so email you send us is stored on Google's servers. Google says it does not scan Google Workspace email for ads. If you email us for a Discord invite, we use your address to reply and send the invite (incoming email may also be organized as described in section 3). If you join the NJ Small Business Gems Discord, Discord handles your account and messages under its own privacy policy. As the server owner, we can see your Discord username and what you post there.
An earlier version of this site had a form for suggesting a resource. Netlify, our host, stored the suggestions sent through it, which may have included a name and email address. We deleted them on October 25, 2026.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We do not set cookies. The site stores three small values in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice, whether you have accepted the legal notice and the Terms of Service, and which boxes you have ticked on the Get Started checklist. The Reset checklist button on that page clears your ticks. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. No third-party analytics or advertising scripts run on this site.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only with the service providers that run the Services (such as our host, Netlify, and Google, which hosts our email), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it, then delete or de-identify it. Our standard periods:
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Emails you send us | 24 months after our last exchange. If an email gives or withdraws permission to feature a person or business, we keep it while that listing is on the site and for 24 months after. |
| Hosting and security logs (kept by Netlify, our host) | Set by Netlify, not by us. We do not control how long Netlify keeps them. See Netlify's privacy policy. |
We may keep information longer where the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute.
8. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Laws such as the New Jersey Data Privacy Act and the California Consumer Privacy Act give people these rights against businesses that are large or that handle a lot of personal data. We are a small company and may not be covered by them, but we will honor these requests from anyone. We may decline to delete information where the law requires us to keep it or we need it to resolve a dispute (see section 7). We will reply within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why before the 45 days are up. To protect your information, we act on a request only when it comes from the email address the information is about, or after you confirm it is you. If we say no, you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line, and we will answer within 45 days. If you live in New Jersey and we deny your appeal, you can file a complaint with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. We will not treat you differently for making a request. To make a request, email omer@halalhelper.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted ads, or track you across websites. So there is nothing for a browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to turn off, and those signals do not change how the site works.
9. Deleting your data
Data stored on your device. The values this site saves in your browser (see section 5) stay on your device. You can remove them at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.
To have anything you have already sent us deleted from our records, email omer@halalhelper.com. The retention exceptions in section 7 apply.
New Jersey Daniel's Law. Daniel's Law (N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.1) protects the home address and unpublished home phone number of covered people. They include current, former, and retired judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and child protective investigators in the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and family members who live with them. If you are covered and your home address or unpublished home phone number appears on this site, email omer@halalhelper.com with "Daniel's Law" in the subject line and the page where it appears. An authorized person under the law may send the notice for you (for example, the parent or guardian of a covered minor, or the executor, trustee, or power-of-attorney holder of a covered person who has died or is incapacitated). Say so in the email. We will remove it within 10 business days of getting your notice.
10. Children
The Services are for adults aged 18 and over who run or plan to start a business. They are not directed to anyone under 18, including children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Security practices
- The site is served over HTTPS, with security headers including a Content-Security-Policy.
- We keep no secret API keys or credentials in front-end code.
- We collect as little personal information as possible, and store nothing we do not need.
- We are a one-person company. Only our founder reads the email we receive. Google hosts it, and the founder's private work tools may help organize it, as described in section 3.
- If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator as the law requires. New Jersey law (N.J.S.A. 56:8-163) requires us to report such a breach to the New Jersey State Police before we notify you, and we will follow that order.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and add a note below saying what changed. If we ever want to use information we already hold in a materially different way, we will ask you first.
October 25, 2026: The age rule was tightened: the Services are stated to be for adults aged 18 and over, matching the Terms of Service. The publisher's location now reads Clifton, New Jersey. Section 3 notes that the founder's private work tools may use an AI service to organize incoming email. Section 5 now says the stored notice flag records acceptance of the legal notice and the Terms of Service. Section 4 records that the suggestions from the earlier form were deleted. Sections 8 and 9 now say that deletion requests are subject to the retention exceptions in section 7. The Daniel's Law paragraph in section 9 now names child protective investigators and says an authorized person may send the notice for a covered person. Section 11 states the order of breach notifications under New Jersey law. Later on October 25, 2026, the response window for privacy requests and appeals in section 8 was set to 45 days, and the Terms of Service now name JAMS as the arbitration administrator, so both match the Omerica Studios legal page.
October 23, 2026: Ask Omie, the AI chat helper, was removed from the site. This policy was updated to match and made clearer.
