About NJ Small Business Playbook

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Who runs it

NJ Small Business Playbook is built and maintained by Omerica Studios, the trade name of Halal Helper LLC, a small New Jersey company based in Clifton and run by its founder. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the State of New Jersey, NJEDA, the SBA, or any program listed here, other than the publisher's own company and Discord community.

Why it exists

It exists because finding New Jersey grants, loans, certifications, and free help meant visiting dozens of agency sites. The directory puts them in one place, links each listing to the page it was checked against, and shows when that page was last checked.

How it is funded

Free to use. No third-party ads, no paid placements, no affiliate links, no data sales. Omerica Studios pays for hosting. The publisher's own listings and personal ties are explained under Relationships below.

Relationships

The publisher's own listings are Omerica Studios, the publisher's company, including its three free tools, and the NJ Small Business Gems Discord, which the publisher started and runs. One listing, Obsidian Rising, is a paid consulting firm whose founder the publisher knows personally; no payment was made. Those relationships are stated on each listing. Nobody paid for placement. See relationships and paid placement.

NJ Small Business Gems Discord

NJ Small Business Gems is a free Discord community for New Jersey small-business owners, started by the publisher in 2026: local resources, wins, vendor recommendations, and questions in real time. The public invite link is being replaced; until the new permanent link is posted here, email omer@halalhelper.com with the subject "Discord invite" to be added.

Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines apply in the server. Discord requires members to be at least 13. The server is meant for adults who run or plan to start a business. Posts by members are their own views. They are not advice from, or endorsed by, NJ Small Business Playbook. The publisher runs the server and may remove posts or members that break Discord's rules, such as spam, scams, or harassment.

How listings are checked

Each listing links to the page it came from and shows a 'Source checked' date, the last time the listing was compared with that page. Summaries are drafted with AI assistance from those pages. The checks are run with AI tools that the publisher directs, and the publisher has not hand-read every listing; see the AI Use Disclosure. Program terms change, so always confirm with the program before applying, signing, or paying.

Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, or zoom. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. In October 2026 the site's code was checked against those guidelines with AI assistance. It has not had an outside audit or full testing with assistive technology, and some parts may still fall short.

If something is hard to use, email omer@halalhelper.com with the page and the problem. We aim to reply within seven days. If you need information from the site in another form, tell us and we will try to help.

Most listings link to websites run by other organizations, and we do not control those sites. If one of them is hard to use, tell us and we will try to help you find the information another way.

Scam warning

NJ Small Business Playbook does not give out grants or loans. The site is free to use and never charges a fee. We will not contact you out of the blue to offer funding. NJ Small Business Playbook will never ask you, by email, phone, text, Discord or any other way, for a payment, a gift card, bank details, or your Social Security number. If someone says they are from this site and asks for any of these, it is a scam. Do not pay them.

The FTC says the government will not contact you out of the blue about a grant. Do not pay an up-front fee to someone who says you qualify for one. Apply only through the program's official website or office. Federal grants are listed for free at Grants.gov. Report scams to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. If someone used our name, please email us too. The FTC's guide to government grant scams lists more warning signs.

We aim to respond to corrections and listing requests within seven days; privacy requests follow the 45-day timeline in the Privacy Policy.
